Hahaha.. And all you did was upload a signed certificate. You still must actually perform WHQL test on the driver. All that you have done accounts for 10% of what is required to test a driver.

I would pitty anyone tasked with this. I ran dry of pitty just on myself long long ago.

Your story is appreciated. I am wrestling this beast as well. Why is it such a battle to deal with Microsoft? Neither they or Verisign will cough up a consistent answer as to which stupid cert I need. I am going with the $99 special and hope it is correct.

yeah, exactly my experience. it is completely confusing to read the dull microsoft site about the digital IDs. And I even got an wrong answer from Verisign like this:

me: "can I sign drivers with that $99 certificate?"
verisign: "yes!"
me: "why is it listed then as 399$ below"
versign: "oops"

I guess it is the dance one must do, like MSDN. But in the end, MSDN is at least useful (when someone else than a "valueble member" is answering your question).

I still don't know wether I can sign my driver as well as submit it to winqual later on when it is stable.

Hi. Many thanks for your posting. We are going through a very similar exercise using Globalsign. While Globalsign can sign drivers and our apps it is not of value to join Microsof't Winqual club. You answered many questions that we wish the vendors had. Thanks again !
